They attempted to comfort me with things like "God will work this out, it's okay this won't last forever." Probably the worst part of it was that my dad repeatedly asked if I had any problems with attraction towards kids and if I had touched my little brother. Anyways so I accidentally left some article about gays open on the family iPad and my dad found it on there so he asks me "why is this on the iPad?" I could have easily come up with some excuse but I had been wanting to get it off my chest for a while so I stupidly told them "I'm gay." For the next two hours, i was repeatedly told by them "it's gonna be okay" and things like that but it was very apparent it wasn't gonna be okay. I'm Mormon so my parents are obviously strongly against homosexuality. I also came out (accidentally) to my parents a few months ago (I'm fourteen by the way). My entire family loves my sisters girlfriend and my conservative, church-going Nana even told me that this is the happiest she has seen my sister since she was 9. I love you no matter what."Ībsolutely heartwarming. My dad, huge smile on his face, says, "It's okay, baby girl. I come from a family of giants, so when I say this, I meant there was no escaping.Īnyway, my dad asks, "what were you going to tell me?" My sister was still trying to get out of it, but was trapped. My dad walks up to her and gives her a massive bear hug. My neighbor and I immediately give each other "oh shit" looks and see my sister with a similar expression trying to sneak away. My sister had come over for a while and was about to leave when my mom says, "Don't you have something to tell your father?" My sister had already told my mom and there was no doubt my mom would be okay with it. I was at home from college working on my truck with my neighbor. Not a parent of a gay child, but a brother of a gay sister. >!insert spoiler here!< Other subreddits you might like: some
